Submitting Organizational Sanctions

Upon conclusion of the conduct process for student organizations, Student Conduct & Community Standards (SCCS) frequently recommends educational workshops and programming. These educational activities are targeted at addressing the behavior the group was found responsible for and are often formulated in collaboration with the student representative, advisor, and/or headquarters to support the organization through any necessary changes.

Documentation of all completed sanctions is required. All sanctions must follow the conditions and/or restrictions included in the finalized and agreed upon Notice of Sanctions or Alternative Resolution Agreement. Conditions may include requirements about who is required to receive a training or workshop, who must facilitate the program, and the deadline for when the program must be completed. Any deviation from the assigned conditions or restrictions may be considered a violation of the Code of Conduct which may result in more serious sanctions. Any requests to deviate from the assigned conditions or restrictions must be made in writing to SCCS prior to the deadline for the sanction. SCCS has the right to deny any requests to deviate from assigned conditions or restrictions.

In an effort to simplify the process of verifying the completion of a sanction, SCCS has developed a form for student organization representatives to use to submit any necessary documentation.

For more information regarding the student organization conduct process, questions about specific sanctions, and/or requests for an extension or other deviation from the assigned conditions or restrictions in place, please reach out to the SCCS staff member who oversaw the organization’s case or SCCS at studentconduct@utk.edu or 865-974-3171.
