Biography
Mya was born and raised in Knoxville, TN and currently serves as a Coordinator within Student Conduct and Community Standards. Mya has served in various roles within the office since 2019 before returning to the office as a Coordinator in 2023. Prior to returning, Mya was a school therapist and worked with students struggling with mental health concerns, life changes and transitions, and helped them navigate tough obstacles. Overall, Mya is extremely passionate about helping students develop and grow by using restorative and developmental practices. Mya’s primary focus within her role is conducting investigations and adjudicating Student Code of Conduct violations for students. Mya also assists with supervising Graduate Assistants, Student Conduct Board members, and building educational sanctions as well.
Mya earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in May of 2021 as well as her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in May of 2023. Using the tools Mya has learned within her education and work experience, she ultimately aims to create a safe, comfortable space while following a structured process that is equitable and fair for all students to promote their overall growth and ongoing success.
Outside of work, Mya loves to spend time with family and friends, play with her dog, read fiction books, and travel.
